DARTMOOR KC OPEN SHOW

Lynne and Bramble - what a result - winning Combined G1-3 Agility at Dartmoor show in real style -

10 seconds faster than the next placed dog! This pair are NOT going to be in G2 for long!

Richard took Cassie - this super youngster (Cassie, not Richard!) has a way to go gaining experience in Agility
classes, but with patience over the winter, we are confident results will come next year.

Manda gave Abby a day out - Wookie still recovering from castration - and was pleased with her, but as always,
life is hard for a little G4 dog when classes are Combined 4-7!!

Sorry I missed it all - especially Lynne's run, but I hear we have video evidence?

UKA CHELTENHAM

Becky took Storm and Breeze as part of her preparation for the Steeplechase and the Tug E Nuff Finals in December.

Well - Storm had a 1st a 2nd and a Clear (5th) and Breeze had a 1st and a 2nd!!

Becky has made amazing progress with her dogs in the last 6 months - reward for all the hard work that they've done
and the changes Becky has made to her handling - so pleased for them!

TRI-AGILITY TAUNTON & GILLINGHAM

Lots to report folks - Team Paws done well!!!

Tri Agility at Taunton defied the weather forecasts and was not wet as forecast, although on occasions
it was a tad windy!! We were without Tess and Breeze (in season), Bob-Bob (torn ear) and Roly (on holiday!),
but Margaret came to support anyway - lovely thing to do, thank you

Saturday's results - Lynne with Meggie 1st Casual Agility; Richard with Cassie 1st Novice S'Chase Std;
Becky with Storm 3rd Novice S'Chase Midi, Clear (5th) Novice Jumping Midi and 3rd Novice Agility Midi.
This placed Becky and Storm 2nd overall in the Tug - E -Nuff Challenge Qualifier, which means: -

YET ANOTHER FINAL AT THE HAND STADIUM IN DECEMBER - WOO-HOO!!!!

Jan and Manda trained their youngsters in the ring, as did Lynne with Bramble, so important for long term
development and success. Jan & Moss had a good Gamblers run but missed a place by 1.36 seconds - doh!!

And another first of a different kind - Karen and Benny's first ever show and they were great! Very sensibly
starting out with training runs in Nursery then a very quick steeplechase - just one error - so exciting!

Manda took Abby to Gillingham Champ show on Sunday, where she came 4th in G4 Jumping in a big class
of over 60 dogs. The rest of us stayed at Taunton. Lots more training in the Ring, especially for Nik with Nel and
Richard with Cassie (well done you two!)

Sunday's results - Nik with Meggie 2nd Casual Jumping; Jenny with Molly Clear Beginners' Jumping Maxi;
Richard with Cassie 2nd Novice S'Chase Std and Lynne with Bramble 2nd Beginners' S'Chase Midi.

This puts Richard scarily close to Senior and really does put LYNNE INTO NOVICE - well done!!

Lynne & Meggie win Casual Agility            Toby - still a baby!              Moss - just missed a place in Gamblers

tri agility meggie2 And my favourite pic showing what Agility should be - fun for your dog!

Meggie is 9 years old now and has mild hip dysplasia. Yet for her, the chance to run around an Agility or Jumping
course where the poles are a bit lower is just the best thing in the world. This is why we do Agility with our dogs.

PRESTBURY PARK CHAMP SHOW

Such a lovely venue - Cirencester Park - and after some early rain, the sun came out on Sunday afternoon.

4 of us went, just for the one day, all with different objectives. There was also a practise ring, which is really useful
and gave me a chance to do some work with Toby.

This is a busy, well run show - 11 rings, big classes & lots going on, so it was in the deep end for Richard & Cassie
at their first KC show, following on from recent successes at UKA. Cassie was great - speedy as usual and making
all her contacts and weaves. A couple of timing misjudgements made the difference between good results and
eliminations, but this was an excellent first attempt.

Manda & Abby were running at G4 for the second time - a couple of decent runs then a really good Jumping class
for 4th place, Manda was rightly pleased with her little girl.

I ran two Agility classes with Bob-Bob - the first one started and finished well but Bob missed the weave entry
first time. The second run was one of those "nearly" ones - he popped out of the weaves at pole 11, but the rest
was spot -on, really encouraging.

Saving the best for last - final run of the day for Lynn & Bramble was Medium G1 to 4 Jumping. Up until this
run, Bramble was having one of her less focussed days (much to Lynn's frustration). No doubt Lynn forgave her everything
afterwards - a lovely controlled round took her to 1st place.

What a surprise - rosettes AND a trophy this weekend (and chocolate cake on Wednesday)!!

UK Agility Grand Finals December 3rd/4th at the Hand Stadium - WE'LL BE THERE!!

WELL DONE BECKY!!!

An extract from the UKA website says:-

TThe UK Agility Grand Finals will take place on the 3rd & 4th December 2011 at The Hand Arena
in Clevedon near Bristol. The Grand Finals will showcase Dog Agility as the main attraction
and will include 9 Agility finals over the weekend. This will be the culmination of many heats which
will have taken place throughout the year. The goal of this event is to provide an arena where
Dog Agility competition is the sole focus, with Finals for ALL levels of dogs. No longer will our sport be seen
and treated as a sideline show. An event purely for British Agility, the Grand Finals will be live streamed
as well as filmed for a DVD for handlers to have as a lasting memory of this competition.

Last Sunday, Becky qualified both Storm and Breeze for the First Contact Beginners' Steeplechase Final
each of them winning their heats. (Soooo pleased for Becky!!)

Over the year, there are 10 heats, held at different UKA shows. The top 2 dogs from each heat qualify.
There will be a semi-Final and a Final held during the Finals weekend.

Looks like a coach trip to me ........................

MORE ROSETTES IN AUGUST

August has been an odd month, not many competitions for us since Dog Vegas in July

I'm a bit late in catching up and I've probably missed someone, so sorry - but I do know that
Richard has added several rosettes to Cassie's collection recently, including most recently a clear round
and a 4th at UKA Tirley.

Lynn and Bramble won their Agility at the same show, the only pair to finish the course!

Becky's been picking up rosettes all over the place with Storm, Lily and Breeze, although we're
deliberately not entering Storm into too much KC at the moment - she's too likely to win!
The KC progression system would mean that a win into G3 will take Breeze up as well.
Becky feels (and we support her) that Breeze isn't ready yet. As Breeze is Becky's youngest dog,
there's plenty of time.

Amongst other successes, Manda & Abby were placed in a Senior Games class!! ( Games aren't Manda's strong point).

Holidays are now over, back to normal and Prestbury Park Champ show next weekend, followed
by UKA Tri-Agility in Taunton on Sept 10th & 11th, where we hope for a full Team Paws turnout

TOO MANY TO LIST ........

Well done to everyone in PawPlay who passed their Bronze Good Citizen Award, and congratulations to
Ghillie, Lily, Nel and Lewis who went on to pass the Silver Test. Going for Gold in the Autumn?

We would also like to thank Lyn Humble for giving so generously of her time as the examiner, and Ginny
for being her taxi!

Paws agility people have been returning to the rings, with UKA Nationals starting this week and then more
shows, both UKA and KC to come through August. Apologies if I've missed anyone - over the last week, I think
this is correct ..........

Lynne & Bramble clear Sherborne G1-7 Helter Skelter, 2nd Beginners' S'chase & 2nd Jumping at UKA Thames
Richard & Cassie 4th Novice S'chase at UKA Thames

Day 1 Nationals  Becky & Storm 1st Beginners' Agility; Anne & Meggie 1st Casual Agility.

Good luck everyone who is going to the Nationals later in the week - we're elsewhere but will think of you!!
